Welcome to Halley

Halley Primary School is an aspiring, one form entry community school situated in the heart of Stepney Green, a short distance from Canary Wharf. The School is named after Sir Edmond Halley, the astronomer royal which underpins Halley’s unique identity.

At Halley we are passionate that every child can succeed and that this is achieved through a team of dedicated staff and by building close working relationships with our families.

We pride ourselves on providing an inclusive, rich and creative curriculum serving a multicultural community which has a strong commitment to UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) as well as our local history and geography.

Our school motto: Including all learners, achieving their best.

At Halley we are all learners, on a learning journey. What we want for our children is what we want for everyone.

  • Learning for all
  • Challenge for all
  • Respect for all
  • Support for all

We offer opportunities for parents to work alongside their children as well as the opportunity to attend a wide range of workshops.

At Halley we are extremely proud of our School grounds which offer a range of opportunities for our children to explore and play:

  • Sandpits & giant seesaw
  • Roundabout & climbing frame
  • Climbing wall
  • Japanese peace garden
  • Small woodland
  • School allotment & orchards

We also offer specialist teachers for the arts, computing and sports which allows us to broaden and enrich our curriculum provision.

At the core of our approach to teaching and learning we have identified six key learning characteristics for our children to develop:

Confidence   Independence    Ambition    Creativity    Resilience   Health

We value individuality at Halley and recognise that each child will have their own unique character.  We strive to ensure success both within and beyond the School and encourage our children to become lifelong learners.
